Volunteering at LVEJO is an opportunity to contribute directly to environmental justice work in Little Village, and to connect with a community of residents, organizers, and advocates who have been building power here for more than 30 years.
La Villita Farm
Thank you for expressing interest to volunteer at La Villita Farm. We’re glad to welcome you to the ongoing growth of this cherished space. We’re excited for this year’s farm season and all the relationships, partnerships, and collaborations we get to build.
La Villita Farm is an active vegetable production area built upon uneven ground, topped with wood chips, and limited shade. There are no paved smooth surfaces in the farm. Please bring a reusable water bottle, wear close-toed shoes, clothes you can dirty (preferably long sleeves and pants), and a head covering. We have extra straw hats if needed.
Farm activities include moving compost, and mulch with wheelbarrows, seeding, overhead watering, setting up irrigation system, weeding, bed prepping, transplanting, harvesting, clean-up, and any other activities deemed necessary by farm staff. We encourage volunteers to participate in activities they feel most physically comfortable doing.
