From Our Board Chair
Dear friends,
On behalf of the LVEJO Board of Directors, I am delighted to share that Leslé Honoré has joined LVEJO as our new Executive Director!
Leslé comes to LVEJO after serving as the CEO of Urban Gateways, a Chicago arts education nonprofit. A Blaxican poet, activist, and published author, she has spent her career helping communities find their voices and confront the social, economic, and racial inequalities that shape their lives. She also serves as Co-chair of Elevated Chicago, a collaborative advancing community-driven, equitable development near transit. She is a people-centered leader known for her passion and commitment to equity and justice.
Leslé joins us at an important moment. Together with our staff, community members, and partners, she will lead LVEJO into its next chapter of organizing and advocacy for clean air and water, food access and justice, equitable transportation, and self determination in Lttle Village, across Chicago, and beyond.
We are deeply grateful to our Interim Executive Director, Aina Gutierrez, for guiding LVEJO through this transition.
Please join us in welcoming Leslé to the LVEJO community!
