5 shots for the open space campaign

Dear Aldermen and News Media
Please help announce LOGAN BOULEVARD SKATE PARK to your schools and residents.
PRESS RELEASE - LOGAN BOULEVARD SKATE PARK is OPEN
2430 W. Logan Blvd under the Kennedy Expressway I-90/94 overpass HOURS: 6 am - 11 pm
Chicago Park District has new park for skaters. The city's first "covered skate park" under a highway overpass allows year round use;
skaters are protected from rain and snow.
Efforts are underway to design & create Public Art / murals / tile mosaics on rows of highway support pillars, plus mobiles and sculpture.
This will enliven underpass and reduce random tagging & graffiti. Chicago Public Art Group has shown interest in facilitating community
based art projects. http://www.cpag.net
The Skate Park is an innovative new jewel in Chicago's "emerald necklace" of parks and boulevards. John S. Wright proposed the emerald
necklace in 1849: "Of these parks I have a vision. They are all improved and connected with a wide avenue extending to and along the Lake
shore on the north and south, and so surrounding the city with a magnificent chain of parks and parkways that have not their equal in the World."

We submitted LETTER reply to SunTimes negative vibes:
LET OUR KIDS SKATE
Logan Boulevard Skate Park will be completed this week. The "covered skate park" under I-90/94 Kennedy Expressway at 2430 W. Logan Blvd
is the newest Park District jewel in Chicago's historic Emerald Necklace of parks and boulevards. The community and City are exploring art
opportunities such as murals enlivening highway support pillars. Public Art reduces tagging and graffiti. The biggest "potential concern" isn't
tagging; it's figuring out coexistence of two distinct user groups- skaters for whom this park was primarily designed, and BMX bikers.
Let Chicago's kids skate. Let them skate late.
Give them a chance to use and be responsible for their innovative park.
