Since 2014, the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization (LVEJO), has launched a #NoDieselLV campaign to address the overwhelming development approvals of Trucking, Distribution, and Logistics (TDLs) in La Villita and south side communities. This was rooted from the expansion of Unilever Best Foods Hellmann’s located on 2816 S Kilbourn Ave, reported to expect 500-900 more trucks a day after their expansion on their drop-lot and factory. Since 2017, community members are concerned about the conversion of the former Crawford Coal Plant into a logistics and distribution campus, #Exchange55, further endangering the public health of community and city overall, with additional diesel pollution from truck traffic.
